Impact of a Biennial Football World Cup

Recently FIFA set out new proposals to reshape international football, suggesting a biennial football World Cup and radical revisions to the international match calendar for the UEFA Nations League, UEFA European Football Championship qualifiers and FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Given that the impact on UEFA (and world football) could be profoundly damaging, we were engaged by UEFA to help them understand the commercial implications of the proposals.

Using our in-depth understanding of the broadcast and sports ecosystems worldwide, we were able to value the impact across six different sets of international competitions, including the UEFA European Football Championships and FIFA World Cup, across the globe. From this we helped to shape UEFA's response to FIFA's proposals and set out strategies to mitigate the negative impact they would have.
